My Process
Every painting is an entire being(s) and artifact of a journey - always emerging from an inquiry & an intention making the first marks, the first layer.
In response to the initial inquiry, there are many layers of color and movement to realize unknowns, reveal the shadows, and claim responses, sensations, feelings & experiences. Calling on ancestors of Aotearoa & Celtic origins (of me), earthen & cosmic information, this bodies inner wisdom, scientific information, and divine breath for answers and the form that wishes to come forth.
The final form that you see is what I call an Archetypal Portrait. They emerge many layers after beginning, bringing the journey from an abstract space of spirit and cellular experiences into an embodied form. At this point in every painting there is a moment(s) where I begin to realize that there is archetypal information calling to be noticed. And for every painting there is a joining of my story with archetypes and ancient ones - bringing in symbols of claiming, healing, and completion of a new story. Each painting is complete when the new story is complete.
These paintings are my tea and coffee companions - providing ever more wisdom and reminders of woundings re-framed, and possibilities calling. They are artifacts of a journey complete. Providing reminders that we are all so much more than our woundings, functioning as a road map in relationship with self, family/whanau, cosmos/Ranginui, earth/Papatuanuku, and all beings.
Their voice and wisdom is always guided by love, grace, resolution, and our human r/evolution.
